Sources Say Dewey to Close Doors May 15 If Not Before

May 4, 2012

The efforts of Dewey & LeBoeuf's leaders to save the struggling firm may have reached a dead end, with sources inside and outside the firm telling The Am Law Daily on Thursday that Dewey is poised to close by May 15 and possibly sooner. Dewey has shed about 100 partners since January and faces mounting debt obligations. A Dewey spokesman responded to a request for comment with the following statement: "There is no plan to shut the firm down on May 15."
