No Escaping $40 Million in Liabilities, Judge Tells Debt-Collection Lawyer

A federal bankruptcy judge has found that the operator of a nationwide debt collection practice that drew more than 1,000 consumer complaints, 100 lawsuits and at least 10 actions by state attorneys general failed to keep records as required by the Bankruptcy Code. Jack Boyajian also racked up nearly $40 million in liabilities, which the judge has refused to discharge.
