Hyde Amendment fee awards rarely granted
The U.S. Supreme Court this summer is expected to get a chance to clarify the scope of the "Hyde Amendment" -- the long-held but rarely successful mechanism by which federal judges can force the government to pay legal bills in criminal cases where government lawyers did not play fair.
