Former Ropes & Gray Associate Pleads Guilty in Insider Trading Scandal
Former Ropes & Gray associate Brien Santarlas pleaded guilty to conspiracy and securities fraud Thursday, telling a federal judge he stole information about clients of the firm, reaping $32,500 in kickbacks. Santarlas, who is cooperating with the government in the hopes of obtaining a reduced sentence, admitted to stealing confidential information in 2007 on pending mergers and acquisitions as part of a conspiracy with another former Ropes & Gray associate, Arthur J. Cutillo, who was arrested Nov. 5.
