Disbarment Looms for First Attorney Convicted Under N.J. Anti-Runner Law

December 4, 2009

Irwin Seligsohn, the first New Jersey lawyer to be convicted for using runners to bring in personal injury cases, seems certain to be disbarred. Seligsohn, now out of prison and on probation, was a no-show this week at a disciplinary hearing before the state Supreme Court, in which the Office of Attorney Ethics is seeking his permanent ouster from law practice. After pleading guilty to several crimes in 2007, including third-degree criminal use of runners, Seligsohn received a sentence of three years in prison.
