Admitted Body Part Harvesters Don’t Have to Pay for DA’s Time, Judge Rules
Brothers Gerald and Louis Garzone may have to pay with jail time and restitution for their roles in illegally harvesting body parts, but they don't have to pay the salaries of the district attorneys and detectives who worked to bring charges against them for their crimes. The Garzones, former funeral home directors and owners of a crematorium, were two of several defendants who pleaded guilty to charges related to a scheme to harvest body parts for sale to tissue banks without the consent of the deceased or their families.
